My husband and I just returned from driving through several western states. Such beauty we saw in God’s creation–blue mountains topped with snow, white clouds floating above the peaks and the prairies, green grass, far vistas, peaceful lakes, rushing rivers, hawks circling over meadows, deer bounding across the highways, city flowers and hillside wildflowers, a lovely wedding, and, best of all, good friends and sweet relatives.
Summertime is a great time to enjoy and appreciate the amazing creation that surrounds us. Equally impressive are the inner workings of human beings. Dr. Paul Brand and Philip Yancey wrote about the astounding world inside God’s ultimate earthly creatures in their book titled “In His Image.”
“What the telescope does to nearby galaxies, the microscope does to a drop of blood: it unveils the staggering reality. A speck of blood the size of this letter ‘o’ contains 5,000,000 red cells, 300,000 platelets and 7,000 white cells. The fluid is actually an ocean stocked with living matter. Red cells alone, if removed from a single person and laid side by side, would carpet an area of 3,500 square yards. …Sixty thousand miles of blood vessels link every living cell; even the blood vessels themselves are fed by blood vessels. …Every cell in every body lives at the mercy of blood.”
We are inundated with miracles, inside and out, every day, all day, and all night. Enjoy summer and enjoy yourself. You are a miracle!
