LAVISH LOVE: How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (I John 3:1 NIV)

Refuge

From a recentImage sermon about David and the time he escaped Saul by hiding in the cave of Adullam, which means “refuge”:

“We don’t see God as our Refuge until everything is stripped away.” Placing us in a dark, hopeless cave is God’s gift to us. He uses the caves of life to free us to trust Him, and Him alone.

David wrote Psalm 142 while hiding in the cave of Adullam. Verse 5 says, “Then I pray to you, O Lord. I say, ‘You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life.'” (NLT)

Reminds me of a chorus we used to sing in church youth group long ago. “He’s all I need, He’s all I need. Jesus is all I need.”
