LAVISH LOVE: How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (I John 3:1 NIV)

Authentic Faith

From a recent sermon (I Samuel 13:16-14:15):

“Authentic faith assesses obstacles in the light of God’s sovereignty.”

When Love Is Our Response

I’ve been reading You Are What You Think, an excellent book about attitude by psychologist David Stoop. Here’s a great thought from the author, one appropriate for Valentine’s Day.

“Love is the emotion of self-control, for when love is our response, we are able to act, not react, to life.”

Heart of Man

From my Bible study guide lesson by Rosetta Lane:

“Grace is radical. It is diametrically opposed to the world system in which we live. Think about it. At school, at play, at work, perhaps even in our own home, we have to perform to be accepted. We have to justify our own existence and do something to earn our keep. It is little wonder that every religious and moral system in the world except New Testament Christianity is based on performance. The heart of man is ever prone to add something of human device to the Divine provision.”

Bound by Love Not Law

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ–to the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1:9-11 (NIV)
